How was everyone's burn? What did you think and how was it overall? What blew your mind? What annoyed you?

Gimme, gimmie!

Two things of note:

- I heard the MTV crowd was huge this year. There were even branded theme camps.

- Some tv reporter was taping a segment for the Dish Network and people drowned him out with screams and interferring

Hello! I wish I was going this year. Man I miss you guys. Fack... trying to ignore the pull.

My best friend is getting married on the playa. *pouts*

Anyways, there is an unoffical Kanadian Kocktail party on Wednesday at Lemuria (between 4:00 to 4:20 and Fate).

Don't worry Dan, it is not an Orange thing. Fasty and Gia will also be there for their wedding reception from 5 pm onwards. The camp has built cool large scale crystal art structures. There will also be DJs. Not sure if there will be a bar.

Have a great time guys!

XXOO,
stacy aka token Canadian

Hi all,

So as some know, a few of us have been working on Playa Art (The Ol' Factory) and an Art Car (Snot Rocket) this year. We will be hosting a few events at the Art on the playa and would love for Camp Stimmers to reunit and re-live memories. It'll be a great time to meet your new virgins and then we can give them a proper stimulating welcome.

We plan to get us all together to BBQ and groove on some music out at The Ol' Factory. So, plan in one of your meals as somfin' to grill. We'll get more details out when the day/ time is finalized.

Sweetness,

Angelique and I ordered a boat load of stuff for the Camp last night. $188 total and enough to supply all 18 of us. The main stuff:

- light up Lei's
- 22" necklaces: regular + glittery
- 6" glowsticks:
- 8" braclets

When they come in, we will divide them up for everyone so that you can have them to use on your own schedule.

ART THEME 2006: HOPE AND FEAR – THE FUTURE!

The future’s a projection of the here and now: expanding with our hopes, contracting with our fears. This year’s art theme will explore how we create futurity. Express what you most hope for! Express what you most fear! The Burning Man, as heartbeat of our city, will be made to rise and fall upon this tidal flow or our emotions and imagination. For more details visit the front page of our website http://www.burningman.com> and then express your hopes and fears for the theme at the "poll" on the middle of the home page! At the end of this JRS is information about Art Grants for 2006.

how's this for an idea?

One of the Priestesses in training for United Pagan Temple came to me with an idea I would greatly appreciate some feed back on. Sister Rowyna has recently become involved in Seattle’s “Burning Man Community”. She was also involved in the set up of Synchroni-city of the mid west. These things seem to be commune type events (in the case of Burning Man it is a week long event in August/September). The people involved in these events bond together, working, living and interacting without the modern day trappings of TV, electricity, rental housing etc. Now here is the idea Sister Rowyna presented to me:
Why not get a couple acres of land ( that is 43,560 sq ft per acre) divide one of those acres into 10’x20’ plots for a total of 2000 plots. Use 60 sq ft for our (the Temple’s) main tents/ plot, and use the remains of that acre for a communal hall, restrooms, shower stalls. Have one large dome tent for communal baths. Each plot can be used for family garden, tents, small livestock, etc. You can bring, use and maintain generators to supply power if you wish.
The other acres would house Rabbit hutches, Chicken & Turkey pens, a milk cow (or 2 later). Each plot is rented for $50 a week or $200 a month. This money would cover the water/ sewer costs, property taxes, care and upkeep, with the remainder going into the Temple accounts. We can work out later if people want to house their own cattle, sheep, etc.
Ok, give me feed back on the viability, legalities, and feasibilities. Also if any one knows of a couple acres ( no less than 2) coming up for sale by April in Kitsap county area. Right now we can afford payments of $300 a month guaranteed and that is IF we cannot get a bank loan (which we have not yet checked on) e-mail us @ united_pagan_temple2004@yahoo.com or mail info to PO Box 2603; Bremerton, WA 98310
check us out @ www.unitedpagantemple.com Don't let the name fool ya, Christians welcome too

El Wire at IKEA - from BM tribe

Bargain hunting burners who use El Wire will want to know:
Ikea stocks several colors of El Wire in it's christmas light section.
They have @30 ft lengths with transformers to plug into the wall
($20) and shorter lengths that run off of 2 AA bateries ($2.)
These have a steady on plus flashing mode.

The selection is getting slim at the Emeryville store
where I found it today, especially for the small battery powered lengths.

A clerk I asked wasn't sure if they would restock or not.
This is quite a savings over other sources of El Wire.

Thanks guys for allowing me to hang at your camp here and there.

It was great meeting Debra, Gene, Joanna, and Brian.

I loved seeing the familiar faces of Andy, Jason, Angelique, Jerry, Josh, Danno, and Su.

I really missed hanging with you guys this year and dancing until dawn. I cannot help but compare the group dynamic and coordination to every other camp I join or encounter.

Thanks Andy for the Key to Canada.

Thanks Angelique for the Stimulation t-shirt.

I have a few KGFY t-shirts to mail to you guys.

When I return in 2 years, I will definitely opt to camp with you guys as the Token Canadian.

Much luv,

Sitting here catching up on all my bills and thinking of things that I really miss right now:

- taking that first deep breath of air mixed with playa dust once I hit the greeter's station.
- waking up in Black Rock City.
- freaking out because all hell is breaking loose during my coffee shift.
- getting dizzy from drinking too much coffee on an empty stomach
- cruising the wind swept open playa on my bike during the day.
- smoking cloves
- dancing my arse off to BLVD or Tiesto.
- seeing Dan run around like a crazy man with a 6 foot inflatable penis.
- watching Josh make "one last adjustment" up on the tower.
- drinking a last cocktail next door at Starlust before stumbling home.
- riding my scooter around at night while I'm f--ked out of my mind.
- wearing my green Oscar the Grouch outfit.
- hangin' around the burn barrell at the Ranger's Station next door as the sun comes up.
- hearing "thump-thump-thump" as I drift off to sleep
- my cat of 15 years, Boots, whom I had to put to sleep 2 days after returning from the playa.

(add your own to this list if you wish)

My article and pictures are on pages 5 through 16. I mentioned Camp Stimulation in it and there's a picture of our Camp as well.

As yous all know my tent is closest to Ranger row and I had the fabulous opportunity to overhear this from the Rangers' mouths:

The consensus among all the Rangers is "Camp Stimulation has the best restaurant style camp."

The Rangers like us....A LOT. If we decide to pull this together for next year, I'd say the chances of us being placed in a prime location are pretty fucking good.

All yous rock!! Loved every minute of it....sanks!

Hi,

My name is Bryan aka Cap'n B from The Pink Spot. We're camping near you at 9:00 and Delirium.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the coffee you're bringing to the playa. A number of our tribe were, well, tickled pink to learn you were nearby.

We are having the 2nd 1st Annual Pink and Furry party on Friday night starting around 11:00 and going until who knows when. I hope you'll all come by for the event.

Thanks again for the coffee. What can we bring to support you?

Bryan

Ok gang, this is where those who have been up to the desert share our sagely advice with the Newbie's... Post stuff here that you know you'll need, but really didn't think about telling anyone else yet...

-Bring some trash bags, more than you think - you'll need them when you leave.
-Leave food, water, beer on the outside of your vehicle on the way out to give to the DPW. No good for them if we have to unload to give it to them on the way out.
-Bring a camelpak. They work great out there.
-No logos! No logos. Cover them up.
-Face paint is fun in the desert. I still remember by Ming eyebrows!
-Get a full tank of gas in Reno. No excuses.
-Drink more water than you think you need
-Drink dead safe on hwy 447. People die there every year. Josh, Jason and I know about this in too much detail.
-Bring enough batteries for walkie talkies, headlamps / flashlights etc.
-Goggles and dustmasks are a must. No excuses
-Whiteout are Fucking amazing. Dont fear the playa!
-Nasty dust storms are awesome. Run around in your tighty whities and shout "Guys - where are you". You'll love it.
-Be open, kind and respect other people. No fights, arguments. Peace, love and good vibes all around.
-You've worked hard for this holiday - enjoy it.
-Spend some time down at center camp, amazing the crazy people down there!
-Cook your food in advance, freeze it.
-Do with regular ice first year, be careful if you go with Dry-ice.
-It's very hot in the day and very cold at night when we sleep. Pack accordingly.
-Suntan lotion, Bee's wax lip balm and moisteriser are good - even for us guys.
-Take stamps you can mail stuff back to the unreal world there
-Do try to make something to gift with. People really do like that a lot.
-Radios are a must! Seriously. So are bikes.
-A bike lock is a must and so is a spare innertube.
-Bring a wide brimmed hat. You'll look good in it!
-Bring a can of instant flat-tire fix. If you get a puncture it's an easy out.

Ok, over to someone else...

Deb and I will probably finish the dance floor sometime next week. At that time I will bring it and the signs over to Malibu's. (We are still working on the structure to make the signs stand.)

The dance floor is a bit heavy and wired with lights. Best if it could go inside where the lights will not be smashed. I will cover it in plastic bags to keep everything from catching.

Well, we'll be heading to Washington Thursday 'till Monday to see Dave at the Gorge.

bye for now....

is there anyone out that that wants to contribute that has yet to do so *OR* someone with some extra time on their hands?? su & i need some help with picking up the plastic that will cover the dance floor.

the task deets:
1) call various home depots to see if they have 3' x 5' sheets of plastic light panels, clear cracked ice pattern. if so, put on hold & arrange for pickup.

NOTE*: clear cracked ice pattern is very important. NO FROST! we've tested other patterns & this works best for the wow factor.

2) if home depot doesn't have it, contact tap plastics:
312 Castro Street
Mountain View CA 94041
Open: Mon-Fri 8 to 6, Sat 9 to 5.
Phone: 650.962.8430
have a custom made 3' x 5' sheet made, cracked ice pattern -- this will cost us approx. $30

i know all of us have been quite busy with our own projects & camp projects, but perhaps there is someone twiddlng their thumbs wondering how to help....THIS WOULD HELP....we could finish up the dance floor tuesday.

thanks!

Hi Stimulators,

So, I have a job interview on Friday the 26th in Thousand Oaks, CA. I will have to stay overnight for the Saturday "town tour." (It's in my best interest to see if I want to live there.) This shoots my departure time of Saturday to either Sunday or Monday morning. Sorry I can't give an exact date/ time.

No need to worry about me when I arrive (radio), I know the layouts and am capable on my own. I really wanted to build this year (especially the amazing tower and bar.) See you all soon.

Josh, I will give the orange guy wire warning tape to Andy.

Cheers,
Bionic

Radio channel

I need to do a bit more research in to this before I post an actual channel, but suffice to say there's more to this than meets the eye. Some channels have twice the power others do - which is mandated by the FCC. And some of the cheapy radios do not have all channels - which is a plus for us as we won't want to use one of the channels they have etc.

I do need to know though, who has GMRS radios as opposed to FRS radios? This was a major pain in the arse last year and most of us with GMRS had no issues at all pretty much anywhere on the Playa. The FRS radios were a pretty dismal failure accross the Playa.

Ideally we'll all have GMRS radios this year, I know a fair contingent re-invested in new GMRS compatible radios last year and we were all thankful. If you have the cash, and I know a lot of us do not, then the Combo Garmin GPS/GMRS worked really well for me last year, dust storms and white-outs just didn't matter anymore :) It is very heavy and bulky though unfortunately :(

*I wrote this in the Burning Man Tribe a while back, thought I'd repost it here*

Camp Stimulation would like to say hello to the wonderful theme camps that will be sharing the 9:00 plaza with us and the thousands of happy people we will soon entertain.

The 9:00 Plaza looks to be one hot destination this year with a hot lineup including the offspring of my favorite drinking and dancing spot the Starlush Lounge. Flash back to that free love vibe at Qube Light. I've got my khaki shorts and captains hat all set for sunset at the Lake Lahontan Yacht Club. The 7 Sins Lounge tempts you in many ways and you're sure to find many beautiful people from the Black Rock Body Art Guild heating up or cooling off there. Operation Camp offers a different kind of body modification and lets you relive the joys of childhood. Spoil that inner child at Pamper camp, everyone needs a salon once in a while right? Once you're beautiful you can find just the right costume at the Fig Leaf Playhouse. There's so much to do,to maintain the energy to do it all, have a cup to keep you up, Coffee or Tea. You can keep the 9:00 vibe even when you're away, Sloburn will be broadcasting at 97.7 K.P.O.D.

Hi all,
A couple of notes of interest from this email:

- Theme camp party on Tuesday at 6pm for those that will already be there.
- Note the section about towers and trying to prevent people from climing them when we are not around.
>
> Hi All,
>
> This is the last announce before we send you your "how to get placed"
>
> final post. I am watching everyone peal away from the computers,
> pens and papers and change into playa boots and work clothes and head
>
> out the door. I will be joining them shortly.
>
> All early arrivals have been contacted. You should have all gotten
> notification from Jeb by now. Thanks for working with us this year.
> There has been a ground swell of requests.
>
> A few final thoughts for you.........
>
> _________________________________________________________
>
> THEME CAMP PARTY!
>
> WE WANT TO CELEBRATE ALL OF YOU!
>
> Please join us when we get done placing you all on the playa for a
> drink. We are going to meet at the "key hole" in center camp
> (between Tuttie Fruitie camp and Japanorama, right where the
> promenade to the Man begins) at 6:00 on Tuesday evening for BYOB
> drinks. The whole placement crew will be there to celebrate the
> year. We would love to have ALL theme camps join us, so mix up your
> favorite beverage to share and come to center camp!
>
> Your placer will remind you of this special invitation when you hit
> your playa home.
>
> __________________________________________________________
>
> TRAMPOLINES
>
> Are you bringing one out? Trampolines are fun, but when they are not
>
> monitored they can lead to accidents that could cause injury. Please
> monitor your trampolines whenever they are available for use. Please
> make them inaccessible when you are not able to monitor them.
>
> __________________________________________________________
>
> DPW SUPPORT
>
> Sometimes, with all your good planning, you may still need a little
> help. If the DPW can they will. All theme camps need to make any
> requests for support through their theme camp placer. Any requests
> made directly to DPW will be routed back to us. Ask your placers any
> questions about any particular needs.
>
> __________________________________________________________
>
> SOUND
>
> The playa is a natural amplifier and it doesn't take much to produce
> a large amount of sound. Bass travels multi-directionally and cannot
> be absolutely contained with any structures. This gives sound as an
> art form an unfair advantage over other art forms. Burning Man is
> dedicated to radical self-expression, but it is also dedicated to
> creating community. We all must find a way to get along with our
> neighbors. As a community, we need to work together to keep sound at
>
> desirable levels. This means that everyone involved is personally
> responsible for how they affect everyone else's experience. If your
> neighbor believes your sound is too loud, you must work with them to
> find an acceptable volume. You will need to check in with those that
> you are camped near to find out what other events are planned and
> work with them to create a schedule. With these actions you should be
>
> able to handle all of your own sound issues. If everyone works
> together there will be no need for Black Rock Rangers to monitor
> sound.
>
> Sound Policy
> The following four rules make up our basic sound policy:
>
> 1. Neighbors should talk to one another when sound becomes problem
> and try to resolve the issue through direct communication.
> 2. Large-scale sound installations MUST be located along streets 2:00
>
> and 10:00. They may express themselves at unlimited volume unless the
>
> community complains.
> 3. A maximum power amplification of 300 watts is permitted behind
> this Large Scale Sound Art Zone in greater Black Rock City.
> 4. Any concerns about sound will become a concern of the Black Rock
> Rangers if a complaint is made within a few hours of the conflict.
> Concerns about excessive sound can result in:
>
> a) Volume check and mediation between camps,
> b) Volume check and a final warning on complaints,
> c) Disabling of equipment.
>
> (NOTE: Rangers will not take action on issues of taste.)
>
> LSSA
> All large-scale sound art systems will be located along streets 2:00
> and 10:00 (the two outermost edges of our city). Like all theme
> camps, these camps will be encouraged to be as creative and
> interactive as possible. The primary rule is that all speakers MUST
> be turned away from greater Black Rock City toward the open playa at
> all times.
>
> Placing a large vehicle directly behind speakers does WONDERS to keep
>
> sound from moving back into Black Rock City proper. If you drive a
> large truck to the event it must be placed behind the sound system.
> Elevating the speakers off the ground is also highly recommended
>
> ***SPECIAL NOTE: This year the inner and out sections of 2:00 are
> full of sound but the middle is dedicated to art. There will be no
> LSSA in the middle of 2:00.
>
>
> MUTANT VEHICLES
> All sound regulations apply to mutant vehicles driving through our
> city and on the open playa. Please watch your volumes as you!
>
> ___________________________________________________________
>
> STRUCTURES
>
> Large structures need to be secured properly. All designs are
> strongly advised to include safety provisions. For more on this,
> please check out:
>
> http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/securing.html
>
> Remember, any structure that could hold many people should be
> monitored to make sure that weight loads are not exceeded. They
> should also be built with separate entrances and exits. Anything
> over 15 feet high and anything made of scaffolding should be
> carefully considered for safety. It is always helpful to get a
> structural engineer to look over your design before arriving on the
> playa.
>
> Towers are great for climbing and will attracted great interest. You
>
> should be prepared to monitor your towers and make them inaccessible
> when you cannot.
>
> ___________________________________________________________

Ok, picked up the first bit of carpet remnant today. Didn't get much -- got approx. 120 sq ft.

This Thursday I will be picking up more. I need at least one more pair of hands to help me dig thru the remnant trash bin and lift up and over the edge of bin....more hands the better. There was tons more I could have picked up today, but, due to my limited stature, was unable to do so. We might want to bring a small ladder. I'm going to see if I can get my bros truck for the pickup.

So who can lend a hand? I'm thinking of doing this 'round 5ish...before the joint closes.

Coffee Urns

I've looked into both buying a 100-cup coffee pot/urn and renting one. I believe the most feasible for us is to rent. To buy a single coffee pot would cost us approximately $100.

I contacted various party suppliers and have found that A Party Place located in Campbell is the cheapest supplier.

I was quoted $40 for one urn for one week rental.

The cost of 2 urns for one week = $80
The cost of 3 urns for one week = $120

If everyone agrees I'd like to make reservations for 2-3 urns for the BM week. How many urns will we need?

BEWARE!!! Underage Drinking!!

All I can say is, "stupid cops"!! It's not like we are getting in our cars and driving home from the bar!

However, because of BMORG officially being warned about this issue by the cops, we must all take note that if we go through with our plan to serve shots during the night shift in addition to coffee and tea, *YOU MUST BE CAREFUL*! Would suck to be dragged off by the jerk police so be cognazent that if someone looks like they are 16 you may put yourself at risk by serving them. Our Bar area will be considered a "public area" by the cops.
> Subject: Underage Drinking at Burning Man
>
> Dear Bars on the Playa,
>
> Well, it is always something. Please take note. This year we have
> been informed that local law enforcement would like to see us address
>
> the issue of under age drinking. Though we, the organization, are
> not offering alcohol to anyone and are not responsible for your bars,
>
> there are possible consequences for you and us if we did not address
> this issue. So, I am sending out this letter to make sure you are
> fully informed.
>
> We do not believe that there are any rampant problems with underage
> drinking at our event that would merit investigation. Consequently,
> we expect that law enforcement will act the same this year as they
> have in the past. However, you should be aware of Nevada laws on
> under age drinking. Here are some useful facts:
>
> - It is a misdemeanor to serve alcoholic beverages to anyone under 21
>
> years old in Nevada. The law still applies if the alcohol is gifted
> as opposed to sold. Theme camps are considered public space and
> subject to enforcement of this law. (NRS 202.055)
>
> In 2001 the Nevada State Supreme Court limited the application of NRS
>
> 202.055 to only servers who had actual or constructive knowledge that
>
> the person seeking the alcohol was under 21. This means that you
> must card someone who looks underage. Conversely, if someone looks of
>
> age you are not required to card him or her.
>
> - It is a misdemeanor for a minor to consume or possess an alcoholic
> beverage in a public space (e.g., theme camps, open playa, center
> camp, etc. (NRS 202.020)
>
> - It is a misdemeanor to a minor to pass him or herself off as being
> of age. (NRS 202.040)
>
> - Misdemeanors carry the following penalties: Up to 6 months in
> county jail, and/or a fine up to $1,000. Alternatively, community
> service may be sentenced in lieu of, or in conjunction with jail time
>
> and fines. (NRS 176.087)
>
> - If a minor loiters in a place where alcoholic beverages are
> consumed (besides a food establishment) then the minor could receive
> a fine up to $500. (NRS 202.030) Also, if the person in charge of
> the "tavern" allows the minor to loiter then he or she could be fined
>
> up to $500 also. (NRS 202.060)
>
> - Enforcement of the laws is either done by carding the person
> outright, or through undercover sting operations.
>
> None of this is new and not terribly different from most other state
> laws. It could be worse in other states! No need for alarm. This
> letter is merely for information.
>
> Our recommendations -
>
> 1. Use good common sense when serving alcohol.
> 2. Understand your prerogative to serve someone and carefully
> consider your options with people who look less than 21.
> 3. Have an extra person from your camp present while serving alcohol
> to act as a witnesses, just in case.
> 4. Don't get minors drunk. That just isn't cool.
>
> It is worth noting that federal and local law enforcement priorities
> differ on this issue. If you find yourself in an unfortunate
> encounter please get a badge number and note what agency you are
> dealing with. It might come in handy.
>
> Thanks for your time,
>

Hi everyone, wondering how to cover up brand names for my sneakers... I'm planning on bringing two with me, one white Reebook and one black Converse high tops. Don't really want to ruin them for use for after Burning Man by putting permanent markers on them or something like that. Or ripping the names off. How strict is the no brand name restriction? Any thoughts on how to cover up the names that I can undo afterwards?

Thanks,

Dear Campers,

Things are going along very well. I believe we
will get your placement out you early this year,
with any luck it will be this week, so stand by!

There are some old time camps that missed our
deadline for a bunch of reasons and will not be
listed on our map when you enter the city. We
encourage you to go to Playa Info in center camp
to look for them. They will be listed on the
Dynamic Board or in the Directory.

Some of you have complained that your theme camp
blurb was not up on the web site. Please be
patient with our completely volunteer web crew.
They should all be up now, after working on the
weekend for you. There was a back log from last
minute submissions.

When you are looking, please remember that if you
used "The" to begin your camp name it may well be
under "T", The same goes for the word "Camp".

____________________________________________________

Live Plants

Live plants die on the playa. Ask anyone that has
brought them. They always make a mess. In our
history no one has ever brought in plants, trees
or palm fronds without creating a M.O.O.P. (Mater
Out of Place) disaster. Every sight that has
used them in any quantity has cost the clean up
crew days and days of work post event.

There have been a couple of camps that have
successfully brought out sod, but they have been
few and far between. Thought we do not recommend
the use, there are some tried and true technics
to containing it that we are happy to discuss
with a phone call.

The Gate, Earth Guardians and DPW clean up crew
are highly sensitized to the issue and keep a
close eye out for anything that enters our city.
They will stop you at the gate or come and find
you. They have been know to incinerate projects
before they were even begun.

With respect to every ones reaction to more rules
we have not pressed the issue hard to the general
public. We have included language in the
Survival Guide and have chosen to take the softer
approach of talking to individuals and likely
groups, such as this one. We have had some bad
exceptions, due to extenuating circumstance, in
the past few years and are determined to end this
cycle.

Please support us in this effort. Help us keep
the clean up crew sane! Plastic plants work just
as well and look better with a quick watering.

Please leave your live plants behind,

_____________________________________________________

This is the final final official word on fire and your campŠŠŠ.

Fire and open flame within theme camps.

Everyone enjoys a camp fire to gather around or
the light of a tiki torch to guide them back to
camp at night but fire and open flame present a
unique set of challenges on the playa. Wind is an
ever-present aspect of the Black Rock desert and
must be taken into consideration. Winds can blow
sparks and embers out of fire barrels and blow
them across the open playa great distances until
they settle against something (tents, shade
structures, camping gear, art works, etc). Wind
is also a factor with tiki torches and taller
flame effects. Precautions should be taken to
prevent the wind from knocking them over and a
sufficient perimeter around them kept clear from
flammables. To help you prepare for and use open
flame or flame effects in you camp we have
created these guidelines to help keep you camp
safe and to protect the safety of participants
please read them thoroughly.

Please note that Burn Barrels are considered a
public work and shall be available for all to
enjoy.

Guidelines for open flame, burn barrels, Tiki torches etc within theme camps

1. No fire barrels or open flames shall be left
unattended. At least one camp member will be
designated fire tender and be within visual
distance at all times. If found unattended while
lit, open flames or burn barrels may be
extinguished and/or confiscated if there is
sufficient hazard.

2. If winds pick up, all open flames must be put
out immediately and burn barrels must be
extinguished if they begin to throw sparks.

3. Open flame above 10 feet tall shall be secured
from the wind and safety perimeter increased
appropriately to the hazard.

4. Open flames or burn barrels must be
extinguished at the request of any Ranger or
Emergency Services personnel.

5. A 20' area around the fire must be free of any
flammable materials such as cloth, paper, tents,
plastic, etc.

6. All liquid fuels must be kept at least 50'
away. Please check out the guidelines for the
storage of fuels at Burning man.

7. A supply of at lest 5 gallons of water and a
fire extinguisher must be kept on hand to
extinguish the fire in case due to high winds
(wind can blow embers and sparks a long distance
on the playa!) or other hazardous conditions.

8. Burn barrels shall be anchored to the playa
and constructed in a way that the burning surface
is at least 6" from the playa to prevent baking
or scaring of the playa surface.

9. A special note about starting fires with
Gasoline: Gasoline is a very dangerous fuel to
use to start fires because explosive vapors can
instantly build up as it is applied and as the
fire is lit it can flash and burn you!!

Guidelines for flame effects within theme camps.

1. No large scale flame effects using 40 or more
gallons of fuel or burning of large art
installations that when fully engulfed in flames
produce a tremendous amount of heat require a
Burn Shield Platform.

2. No pressurized liquid fuels are to be used within the camping area.

3. Flame effects shall be anchored to the playa
and constructed in a way that the burning surface
is at least 6" from the playa to prevent baking
or scaring of the playa surface

4. If winds pick up, all flame effects must be extinguished.

5. Flame effects above 10 feet tall shall be
secured from the wind and safety perimeter
increased appropriately.

6. Flame effects must be extinguished at the
request of any Ranger or Emergency Services
personnel.

7. If found unattended while lit, flame effects
may be extinguished and/or confiscated if there
is sufficient hazard.

8. A 20' zone around the flame effect must be
free of any flammable materials such as cloth,
paper, tents, plastic, etc

9. An appropriate safe perimeter will be
maintained at all times to prevent injury to
participants.
.
10. No flame effect shall be left unattended. At
least one camp member will be designated fire
effect operator and be within visual distance at
all times.

_____________________________________________________

A re-post of our early arrival policy just incase you missed it!

Deliveries to Black Rock City

If your camp must receive a delivery from the
outside world on the playa you must clear it with
the gate crew and manage the process yourself.
You will need to meet the delivery at the gate
and escort them to your camp and back out of our
city again. A credit card will be required of
the driver before he is allowed to enter our
city. One ticket per passenger will be charged to
it. If the delivery vehicle leaves the city with
in four hours the charges will be reversed. Cash
will be accepted instead of a credit card. If
someone from your camp is not at the gate when
your delivery arrives they will be turned away.

We recommend you:
1. Prepare your delivery driver to ask for you at
the gate when he arrives. Give him as much
information as possible about what to expect upon
arrival.
2. Travel to the gate before your delivery is due
and introduce yourself to the Gate staff. Wait
for your driver.
3. Escort your delivery in and out.

The gate staff will LOVE you for this and so will your driver!
Tower is vertical

Josh, Packratt, Angel, Julie and I got the tower up in Josh's yard sunday afternoon. After a little bit of math we figured out the best way to set the stakes on uneven ground and pulled it vertical and secured it. The next step is fabrication of the PVC ring to attach to the bottom of the parachute, which I think Josh's father is working on. Julie and Josh's mother took many pictures of the proces but I don't have access to them at the moment because I'm at work. Rest assured, with the guy wires this tower is NOT going to budge, it's very secure. It's very steady, even Josh's mother climbed up the tower to admire the beautiful view from the top.

Getting the tower vertical was actually very easy even on the challenging uneven ground, we expect it to be even simpler out on the perfect flatness of the playa. The big challenge is figuring out the best way to get the heavy parachute into place on top.

Hopefully, next sunday will be the magic day of finality when we have a fully completed shade structure.

... latest installment. More info on fires (Dan) .... they are allowed but need to be attended. No wood delivere though (but for the burn barrels?).

JW

*************************************************

Dear Campsters,

Well, we are in the home stretch now. We can smell the playa. The
placers are getting ready to pull out, so get your questions in in
the next two weeks. Before you email them it is worth your while to
revisit the previous announcement to see if your questions have not
already been addressed. Most of what we are getting has been.

Some of you are still bring your placement issues directly to me.
Please take your questions to the placers. They have all of the
latest information and the authority to address anything that is
asked. My job is done and they are in charge.

________________________________________________

FIRE IN A TENT CITY!

So imagine this, it's 3:00 AM and you have just crawled into your
tent with your new friend. It is cold outside and you have pulled all
of the covers around you both as you drift off to sleep. Meanwhile,
outside in your theme camp, the fire in your burn barrel is still
burning away unattended. A windstorm suddenly consumes the city. As
you sleep the sleep of the unaware, sparks blow out of the burn
barrel in handfuls. The sparks tumble unhindered over the playa,
building up as they reach your tent. Moments later you wake to find
that your plastic tent is aflame and melting onto your flesh. Your
new friend runs from the tent burning and setting other flammable
materials in your camp ablaze before finally collapsing on the
Esplanade. Your whole camp is up like a torch in moments.

Seem unlikely? Well so is partying all night in a white whale as it
cruises at slow speeds across a desert!

Fire in theme camps is a very serious thing and while we are allowing
it this year we caution you to take care in the planning of any fire
in your camp. There must be someone who is responsible and present at
all times to monitor the fire and be prepared to completely
extinguish it if wind conditions kick up. At least 5 gallons of water
must be kept close for this purpose. A fire extinguisher must also be
present.

Part of the fun of Burning Man is gathering around a fire at night
meeting folks, sharing a story and enjoying the warmth. BUT we do not
need a fire in every camp. If you can do without it save yourself the
trouble and responsibility and gather around someone else's fire.
The ability of the Black Rock City emergency services to provide
fire suppression would be stretched to the breaking point if multiple
fires brook out in a severe windstorm in our tent city.

There are no fires allowed on the ground. An open flame (meaning not
completely covered) is only allowed if it is in a raised, secured
burn container. Please remember that any fires found unattended,
without water and fire extinguishers or burning in a unsafe manner
will be extinguished and confiscated as well as affect your camp's
status in the future.

WOOD

Wood needs to be brought in for any fires in camps. There has been
some wood provided to some camps in the past. Unfortunately, those
days are gone. Please bring any wood that you will need to burn in
your SAFE, SECURED, and MONITORED fires. We recommend you bring a
tarp to put the wood on so you don't send all day Monday on your
hands and knees picking up chips.

MEDIA FRIENDLY CAMPS

This year we have news and documentary crews coming from all over the
world - from domestic newspapers of every ilk to documentary crews
from Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Japan, Portugal, the Netherlands,
and many more!

If your camp has an interesting story to tell, and would not mind
speaking with news crews, we would be happy to point them your way.
Just send a note to mediafriendly@burningman.com, and let us know
your name and location, and any special story you have to tell in
your camp. If you happen to have members who speak a second language,
it's great to have a place to send international crews for a native
tongue interview, so be sure to let us know!

PROMOTE YOUR CAMP'S PARTICIPATION ON BMIR 94.5 FM

It's that time of the year, and BMIR 94.5 FM wants to publicize your
psyche-shattering event or theme camp on-air to the entire Black Rock
City community. But we don't want to announce it only once; we'd like
get it out over the radio waves repeatedly throughout the entire
week. So crank up that home studio, record those MP3 spots, and send
them to
bmir@burningman.com.

Be sure they arrive via email no later than Monday, August 22 to
guarantee they get on the air. Or, if necessary, drop by the station
during the week to hand deliver your hunka hunka burned CD into the
receptive and waiting hands of your friendly BMIR DJ. (We'll also be
open from noon to 5pm each day of the event if you'd like to come by
and record your announcement on site...)

BMIR: It's not just a radio station. It's a radio station programmed
by you, a bunch of radical, celebratory self-expressionists living in
the middle of one of North America's harshest environments for seven
days, creating the single greatest people-produced miracle ever to
grace the face of planet Earth.
THE BLACK ROCK CITY TEMP AGENCY CAN HELP YOU!

The Black Rock City temp agency, located at feedback loop and amnesia
at center camp, will interview potential volunteers and send them to
camps looking for help. If your camp could use a few more hands,
please let us know how many people you would like, when you would
like them, for how long, and doing what---also, let us know if there
are skills you need and the address and theme of you camp. We will
try to provide "day labor" to needy Black Rock city projects and
camps. We will also provide volunteers with a website to use when
they leave Burning Man. The website provides a listing of
organizations near the volunteer's zip code so the spirit of
volunteerism will continue past the burn.

FROM THE BRCPO

Here is some information for people who want to send their friends or
enemies mail on the playa:

How to receive mail on the playa -

Send mail at the appropriate time (8/26 or 8/27) to:

Your Friend or Enemy
Camp Name
Camp Address
c/o BRCPO
Burning Man
Black Rock City, NV 89412

From our Postmistress, Sylvia, via the BRCPO list:

That's the Zip code for Gerlach. But to get a delivery onto the playa
and to the BRCPO, it has to be addressed "c/o BRCPO" and have a very
detailed description of the person it is intended for and suspected
camp location. (You can always do a "double-wrap" with the VERY
detailed specifics from being read by USPS officials on the inside--
as long as it is addressed "c/o BRCPO" on the outer package, the
volunteers at the BRCPO are authorized to open the outer wrap and
attempt a delivery.)

- Suggestion: Send mail to everyone you know on the playa - I'd
recommend mailing it within the US on 8/26 or 8/27.

- mail is picked up in Gerlach daily.

- We are still looking for quality employees/volunteers - get in
touch if you're looking for a good time/able to work
overtime/bringing more than one case of beer to the playa/are wearing
red today.

Josh (and all),
It was good to talk with you the other night about power and stuff. In addition to the 20Amps we are sharing with our neighbors courtesy of BM, the RV generator supplies another 4000W or 15 Amps max. I'm sure we'll be drawing some of this for ourselvesin the RV at times, but this should give the camp a good chunk left over for additional power for lights, etc. I'll make sure to fill up before leaving I-80 but it would probably be a good idea to bring extra gasoline containers as well.

Things continue to come together.... whoo hoo!!!

Message from DoubleShot (plaza coordinator)

WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT BRC:
The first group of people from your theme camp to arrive at Black Rock
City should contact me when they arrive
at the greeter station on the playa. The following will provide you the
details.
* Our normal hours of operations are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. We very
often extend this period at night,
and the greeters will know when we are up and running or when we are
not placing.
* Announce your camp to the Greeters (they are the people who you are
going to meet right after the gate).
* Let them know that you are a registered theme camp, and give them
the name of you theme camp placement contact
(that is me: Doubleshot), the name of your camp/village and indicate
that you are in the 9:00 plaza.
* The greeter will contact me on the radio and we will arrange a
meeting point. Note that the meeting point
might not be the location of your camp, but somewhere where I can
quickly meet you.
* I should be there waiting for you or on my way. There are many theme
camps this year. So, it may happen
that I take some time to get to the meeting point. Chances are that
I'm placing another camp.
In that case, be patient, I will be arriving as soon as possible.
So..... Relax,.... Stretch..... After all, you made it to the playa.
Good reason to celebrate while waiting. (This is
when the whisky helps us both.)
* From there, I will guide you to your camp.

AFTER HOURS ARRIVAL
If you arrive "after hours", (i do sleep, really, sometimes...), nobody
will be able to place you.
In this case, park your car and just relax for the night (in a non
reserved area)
enjoy your first night in Black Rock City, but please do not settle
anywhere, you would hate to spend time setting up
your super cool structure only to have to tear it down and set it up
again across the street.
In particular, the address we have provided for your camp is
approximate, and we (theme camp placement)
are the only people who actually know exactly where your camp is, and
what the boundaries are.
In the morning, go to Playa Info and ask them to contact me on the
radio(your theme camp name and my name).
I will then be able to meet you and place you.

DURING THE EVENT:
I'll be available during the event to answer your questions and assist
you the best as I can.
I will be your main contact at Burning Man.
In order to contact me, go to the Playa Info, located in Center Camp,
and ask them to contact me on the radio.
(again, mention the name of your camp and my name - Doubleshot)
If you cannot contact me immediately, please leave a note at the Playa
Info and ask them to contact me later.

Hello Fellow Coffee Biotches

Here is the tenative shift schedule. One problem; Critical Tits is on Friday at 4pm. Tiffany, Deb, Joanne, Su, Jeanne, and myself are going to ride in Critical tits and our men are the guests to the party.
So we need to figure out if we want to move the time of our hours on Friday, 8pm-10pm???? Any thoughts? OR Josh, Angel, Packratt, Dan or Julie if you are not planning on riding in critical tits please let me know and I will change some things around and put you in Friday instead.
I tried to make it pretty even. Everyone has to work at least one morning and one evening. Julie and Dan have offered to work a few extra shifts so they each have 2 at night and 2 in the morning. Thanks.

Also SU and I will be the coffee Mistresses at night giving out specialty drinks. If we are not there we will appt. someone else to be the in charge of the specialty coffee. This will only happen in the evenings, if they want one of our more stimulating drinks then they need to get on one of the dance platforms and stimulate us, with words or dance or whatever........

If you have any questions please let me know.

Details on Power Grid (yes, we are on it!)

Hi everyone,
Below is the email detailing the power setup for the Plaza's. They have *really* gotten more organized in the last few years regarding this. To note is that each Hughston box allows for 20 Amps, but that we will be sharing this with another camp. Our 60 / 100 cup urn's draw 8.33 and 12.5 Amps respectively so as long as we stagger the brewing cycles (max current draw during these times), we should be OK. Also, we should let our direct neighbors know that during our coffee serving hours we will be pulling more current so that maybe they can conserve during those times. Josh, you should be OK for your floodlights at night but you can match their current draw with the amount we have available.

It's all coming together!!!

Jeff

*******************************************************

Hello again everybody,

I have one additional bit of information to talk about. This is the
“share and share alike” factor. There are 6 outlets per Hughston box.
Each box has to be shared by as many as 4 camps. There is no definitive
way to tell everybody how to plug into the box. But as there will be
other camps sharing the box with you, you should only plug in a minimum
number of extension cords for your needs. Leave room for all your
neighbors to plug in as well. The box may be located in front of your
camp but that doesn’t mean that it’s all yours. If you can, use a nice
heavy cord to bring the power into your camp and then split it off. This
is better than plugging in 4 cords to the Hughston box just for your camp.

One additional tip you should use is to label your cords with your camp
name and what is being fed. This will help everybody identify what is
plugged in and to whom it belongs. If I have to balance the load on the
generators I may need to move a plug. It helps me if I know whom to
contact before I start unplugging things.

bk

> Hello Plaza Campers,
>
> Welcome to what is arguably the best place to camp in all of Burning
> Man – The Plazas. I have already introduced myself to some of you.
> Some of you may remember me from last year as well. To those whom I
> have not said "Hello", let me do so now. I am Baulknaub, Plaza manager
> for the 3:00 and 9:00 plazas. And this message is being sent out to
> talk about the power grid that you are all going to have access to. If
> you are getting this message, you are slated to be on the grid.
>
> First I am sure some of you have many questions, especially if this is
> your first year being on the grid. There is a lot of information in
> this message but it is important information that should be shared
> with every member of your camp that will be dealing with power in any
> way. Some of the information may be a little technical. If you are
> having trouble understanding this information please feel free to
> contact me for simplification. If you have been on the grid before,
> please read on as a few things have changed since last year.
>
> The power in the plazas is not like the power you have at home. It is
> provided by 1 generator and one set of buried cables in the ground.
> What this means is that it has the potential to be unreliable if
> handled improperly. Part of my job is to see that things run smoothly
> with respect to power. This message describes what to expect and how
> to use the power in the plazas in such a way that the grid runs as
> smoothly as possible during the event.
>
> Power in the plazas is available primarily for the Emergency Medical
> Services stations in each plaza. It is also used to serve some
> administrative functions like the Ranger outposts also located in each
> plaza. And finally power is made available for the interactivity
> aspects of your camps. It is our hope that you will use it to its full
> extent to make your camp vibrant and the plazas an active and lively
> place to visit.
>
> What the power is NOT for: large, voltage dependant loads consisting
> of mostly non resistive, highly reactive, low power factor induction
> motors – a.k.a., Air Conditioners. The grid can not support air
> conditioning load, refrigerators and other motor loads. These types of
> things can cause the generator to overload and shutdown. Part of my
> job will be to keep the generators running and the loads balanced on
> them so that the power will keep flowing the whole event. If air
> conditioners are plugged into the grid, the camp with the AC unit will
> be asked to not run the air conditioning. If you have a need for air
> conditioning, please plan to bring your own generator to supply that
> load. Doing this will ensure that there is plenty of power for
> everybody. If you are unsure about the load you expect to run and want
> to know if the grid will support it please contact me. With that being
> said let me describe what to expect and how to use the power.
>
> There will be cables buried about 6 inches in the ground around the
> circle that makes up the plaza. Care must be taken to avoid this area
> when setting up your camp. “T” Stakes and rebar should not be pounded
> into the playa near where the cables are buried. Do not dig or trench
> near the cables. In the past they have been dug through. This causes
> an outage that can last for hours and creates a lot of work for the
> power crews.
>
> There will be 5 power outlet boxes (called Hughston boxes) at each
> plaza, one located near EMS and the remaining 4 at quadrants around
> the ring of the plaza. The exact placement of the Hughston boxes is an
> unknown and dependant on the length of the cables placed in the
> ground. Generally there will be one box near the center of each
> quadrant, give or take. You should plan on bringing enough power cords
> to reach your camp and the items you will be plugging in. You also
> want to be sure that your cords are sized appropriately for the amount
> of current you will be using.
>
> Each Hughston box is wrapped in a nylon bag with Velcro closures. The
> main power cables pass through each end. Inside the nylon cover you
> will see a metal box that is wrapped in plastic. That plastic is there
> to help keep the dust out of the electrical components that make up
> the Hughston box. When plugging in your cords, DO NOT tear the plastic
> wrap to plug the cord in. Simply plug the cord in through the plastic.
> This will help keep the dust out of the Hughston box. Please share
> this important piece of information with each member of your camp. The
> power crews spend dozens of hours cleaning the power boxes. This one
> simple step alone will save them a tremendous amount of clean up time.
>
> Each Hughston box has a total of 6 standard outlets providing 120
> volts of power. Each outlet is circuit breaker protected and good for
> 20 amps max. That should be more than enough to cover all needs. If
> you have a nonstandard plug, you will need to get an adapter so that
> you can plug your cord in. Specifically, I am speaking of a 30-amp RV
> type plug. If this what you will be using, find the appropriate
> adapter to convert it over to a standard plug.
>
> The outlets in the Hughston boxes are color-coded. It doesn’t matter
> which outlet you plug in to but if you see that several cords are
> plugged into the blue outlet and none are plugged in the red outlet,
> use the red. This will help balance the load on the generator and make
> the grid run smoother. For some reason that I can’t identify,
> everybody wants to plug into the blue outlets. Use the other colors as
> well.
>
> The BLM has a stipulation requesting we not have any exposed cables.
> This means that you must bury your cords. Bring a shovel! DPW and the
> power crews are not available to trench for you. They are already
> quite busy with building the city and requests of that nature will
> only slow them down.
>
> The power is for the plaza camps. But one thing that each of your
> campers needs to keep an eye out for is non-plaza camps using the
> power. We do ask that you monitor your camp’s power cords and please
> don’t allow other camps to “borrow” power as this only taxes the grid
> further. If a cord "suddenly appears" plugged in that is not camp
> authorized it is your responsibility to see that it is unplugged and
> that the owner is made aware that they may not pull power off the
> grid. Everyone allowed to power in the plazas will be receiving this
> email. I will make myself available to assist you in this process if
> needed. Find me by going to Playa Info and asking for me. Just ask for
> Baulknaub (pronounced Ball Knob), the plaza manager.
>

Welcome to your placement list - Tokyo

Sounds like we are in one of the most kick-ass Theme Camp areas!!!!

Jeff

____________________________________________________

Dear Campers,

Welcome to the Tokyo Sector. Your placer is Doubleshot and she will
be your guide to successful placement in Black Rock City 2005! She
is available to help answer questions pre-playa and will be there to
escort you to your new home on-playa. She will announce herself to
you shortly and take over from here on. But before she does, I would
like to give you a word or two about your piece of the playa.

Your section is from Amnesia to Delirium including the 9:00 plaza.
You are at the heart of one of the best changes to Black Rock City
since it took its current form. You are going to help revolutionize
the participants experience within the city. We have strategically
placed highly interactive camps, well loved camps and camps that
people just can't resist exploring up around the plaza and deeper
into the city. We have placed camps with similar concepts and energy
levels together to create a terrific district.

Being on such prime real estate offers many extra benefits as well as
some extra expectations. Being this visible puts the pressure on you
to be a model Black Rock Citizen. Please treat newcomers with a warm
and generous embrace. Teach them what Burning Man is really all
about, the community. Also, please do your best jobs cleaning up.
Last year we had the dirtiest exit ever. The cleanup crew found more
M.O.O.P. than any past year. Lets try and Leave No Trace as
effectively as the years previous.

The next announcement on this list will be from your placer
Doubleshot. She is a sweetheart so show your love!

Thanks for being part of such a transformative year!

Hi, I’m looking for someone to carpool or convoy with to Burning Man. I’m thinking of leaving Tuesday and staying overnight in Reno. Then going from there to BRC early on Wednesday. That way I don’t arrive at night when it will be hard to find camp and park.

Anyone want to join in on my plan? I’d rather not go up by myself. It’s quite a long drive and it would be safer and more fun I think to have someone along for the trip up. BTW, I live in the mid-Peninsula but I can meet up with anyone anywhere on the way from the SF Bay Area.

I think on the way back on Monday, I can just leave with everyone else.

Thanks,
Jean

The Really REALLY Free Market

The Really REALLY Free Market!
The Last Saturday of EVERY Month!
Dolores Park 12-4pm
website: www.reallyreallyfreemarket.org
email: reallyfreemarket@...

What is The Really REALLY Free Market?
It's like a large community-wide garage sale, except everything is
FREE! Yes, that's right, FREE! Everyone is invitied to bring things to
GIVE AWAY!

So this is like bartering or trading, right?
Nope. Bartering and trading go something like this: I've got this
great shirt here, what can you offer me for it?
The RRFM goes something like this: I've got this really great shirt
here. I don't really wear it anymore, but I'd hate to see it go to
waste. Do you want it? Great! Here, it's yours!

Why would i want to do a thing like that?
Because you have to many things already! Because you're just going to
throw it away anyway. Because it FEELS GOOD! Do you have things
cluttering up your home? Maybe some stuff that you don't use anymore,
but you know that someone else would probably love. One person's trash
can truly be another person's treasure!

What should I bring?
Bring *your thing* to the RRFM, whatever that is! Material goods, food
or drinks, a service to provide, a skill you have that you want to
teach to others, a performance, or anything else!

What if I don't have anything to give away?
Everyone has something to give to others. The RRFM isn't just about
giving away *stuff.* What is it that you do? Why not come to the RRFM
and find a way to do it for others, except this time for free just for
the fun of it. As a gift to others, as a gift to yourself. It's a way
of reclaiming meaning in your job, to give it as a gift, unmediated by
commerce.

Who runs the RRFM?
Well, the RRFM consists of the sum of its participants. The gift you
bring to the event, helps create what the event is for others, just as
what others bring to the event, creates what the event is for you.
That said, there are some folks who came together to help create the
structure for the RRFM to work. But it is our hope that soon enough,
our role within the RRFM will be the same as everyone else's. That is,
that each of us decides our own level of involvement.

The RRFM is yours!
Take advantageous of that. Make it what you want it to be! If you want
to see something happening at the RRFM that isn't already happening,
than make it happen! If you want to see more people coming to the
RRFM, help spread the word! Send emails to your friends, make and
distribute flyers (make your own or download them from the website),
talk to people about the RRFM.
----
Please help us keep the RRFM a 100% FREE and non-commercial event.
Once a month, let's come together and forget about trading, bartering,
and money. Leave the business cards at home and remember the joy of
giving for the sake of giving. Help us keep Dolores Park clean. If no
one takes what you brought, please bring it home with you. If you like
what you just read, get involved! Come to the RRFM! Bring your own
gifts to share! Spread the info, and get more people involved! The
RRFM takes YOU to make it happen.

Fairy Wings

To all who'd like to flutter around the playa,
I'm making fairy wings. If more folks are interested we can have a fairy wing building party.

Here's my plan of attack (courtesy of Playalicious Playwear):

-make ovals with your coat hanger
-set ovals onto the cling wrap.
-fold cling wrap over the ovals,
-hit with hair dryer. move the dryer quickly. you hardly need any heat to melt it enough.
-you can also put glitter or other stuff inside the cling wrap before you melt it.
-i also added in some wire bits inside the ovals, to create the look of veins, more like dragon fly wings.
