I've looked into both buying a 100-cup coffee pot/urn and renting one. I believe the most feasible for us is to rent. To buy a single coffee pot would cost us approximately $100.
I contacted various party suppliers and have found that A Party Place located in Campbell is the cheapest supplier.
I was quoted $40 for one urn for one week rental.
The cost of 2 urns for one week = $80
The cost of 3 urns for one week = $120
If everyone agrees I'd like to make reservations for 2-3 urns for the BM week. How many urns will we need?

Re: Coffee Urns
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 1:51 PMNice work! Thank you very much for being so proactive to getting your "assigned tasks" scoped out. Good to see the enthusiam for a 1st time burner.
I believe that we agree to 3 urns so go ahead and make the reservations. I will be writing up the minutes from last Saturday's meeting sometime in the next couple of days so I'll confirm that number but I'm 99% sure. -

Re: Coffee Urns
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 2:16 PMbehind this slacker exterior of mine lies one productive son of a bitch itching to get out....
reserved us some coffee urns....
the deets:
2-100 cup urns @ $80 total for week's rental
1-60 cup urn @ $30 total for week's rental
this yields us a $110 total owed to A Party Place for the rental of 3 urns for the duration of Aug. 30 - Sept. 6. i have reserved the urns under my name and under my cc.
A Party Place did not have 3 100 cup coffee urns available that week so I opted for the 60 cup urn. We could use the 60 cup urn for the tea since folks drink less tea. If there is a disagreement with what I've ordered, please let me know asap.

Re: Coffee Urns
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 4:10 PMThat sounds great. When do we need to pay? Do you need cash up front or just reimbursement?
Your alignment of the urns sounds good. One alternative in case the tea is more popular than we think is to have tea in a 100, and coffee in a 100 and 60. Coffee would still not run out since one could fill while the other is brewing.

Tue, July 19, 2005 - 4:52 PMreimbursement will suffice and have the tea in a 100 cup urn is a good idea. -

Re: Coffee Urns
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 12:27 AMDeb, could you please contact the place with the urns and ask them the current draw for each? Rumour has it they draw large amounts and we may have to stagger the brewing cycles. -

Thu, July 21, 2005 - 2:10 PMWhew...that took some doing. Trying to explain the basics of electrical current to a little ol' lady was a deeeelightful test of my patience.
60 cup urn: 8.33 amps
100 cup urn: 12.5 amps

Re: Coffee Urns
Wed, August 10, 2005 - 12:31 PMWow, that's a long time.
Morning shifters can set thier alarm, wake up and turn the urns on (coffee can be readied the night B4), pull up a lounge chair, and go back to sleep until it's ready! -

Re: Coffee Urns
Wed, August 10, 2005 - 1:22 PMFrom experience, when I worked the morning shift it didn't matter how much sleep I got the night before or how tired I was. By the end of the shift I was so amped up I thought I was some sort of a hummingbird. I drank coffee the whole time I was serving! -
