Ok gang, this is where those who have been up to the desert share our sagely advice with the Newbie's... Post stuff here that you know you'll need, but really didn't think about telling anyone else yet...

-Bring some trash bags, more than you think - you'll need them when you leave.
-Leave food, water, beer on the outside of your vehicle on the way out to give to the DPW. No good for them if we have to unload to give it to them on the way out.
-Bring a camelpak. They work great out there.
-No logos! No logos. Cover them up.
-Face paint is fun in the desert. I still remember by Ming eyebrows!
-Get a full tank of gas in Reno. No excuses.
-Drink more water than you think you need
-Drink dead safe on hwy 447. People die there every year. Josh, Jason and I know about this in too much detail.
-Bring enough batteries for walkie talkies, headlamps / flashlights etc.
-Goggles and dustmasks are a must. No excuses
-Whiteout are Fucking amazing. Dont fear the playa!
-Nasty dust storms are awesome. Run around in your tighty whities and shout "Guys - where are you". You'll love it.
-Be open, kind and respect other people. No fights, arguments. Peace, love and good vibes all around.
-You've worked hard for this holiday - enjoy it.
-Spend some time down at center camp, amazing the crazy people down there!
-Cook your food in advance, freeze it.
-Do with regular ice first year, be careful if you go with Dry-ice.
-It's very hot in the day and very cold at night when we sleep. Pack accordingly.
-Suntan lotion, Bee's wax lip balm and moisteriser are good - even for us guys.
-Take stamps you can mail stuff back to the unreal world there
-Do try to make something to gift with. People really do like that a lot.
-Radios are a must! Seriously. So are bikes.
-A bike lock is a must and so is a spare innertube.
-Bring a wide brimmed hat. You'll look good in it!
-Bring a can of instant flat-tire fix. If you get a puncture it's an easy out.

Ok, over to someone else...

    Lip Balm-
Do not get any kind that does not have SPF. ( Needs sunscreen in it!!!)

All that other stuff will just intensify the suns rays, burn your lips, and then your lips will not be kissable. :(

Carmex and all that flavorful jazz can be used in the evenings..... screen during the day...

    More later....

      - trash bags: make sure they are "construction" strength. No fun them breaking apart in your vehicle on the way home.
      - work gloves (digging holes, carrying wood, etc.)
      - tarps: never can have enough.
      - baby wipes: great for spot duty on wiping.
      - ziplock bags: for anything that can't get dusty
      - spare innertubes for bike: bring more than one.
      - aloe gel and / or moisterizer
      - flashlight: no fun tripping over badly placed stakes and gashing foot
      - dust storms: even funner to run around naked and try to get lost!

I thought they were not taking donations anymore as of last year?
